GENERAL RULES
Rules subject to change with out notice according to the Porter County Fair. Mechanics are subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations which are set up by the Porter County Fair.
Sign Ups for the Demo Derby are DAY OF. NO advanced sign up or payment to be accepted.
$30.00 ENTRY FEE FOR DRIVER AND CAR
All Pit Passes will be $25.00
Pay outs for the following events: All Kids will Receive Medals for Participation in the Power Wheels Demo Guaranteed Minimum of $5,100 in purses to be paid for Sunday night show. 80% of entry fees to be paid out for each class to the winners (1st & 2nd).

Any announcement made the day of the event supercedes any and all written material
Each driver must fill out an entry blank. All drivers must supply their own cars, only one entry per person. Proof of ownership should accompany each car entered.
All racers participate at their own risk to themselves and their equipment.
NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED!! ZERO TOLERANCE! No drinking or alcoholic beverages on track, emergency vehicle area or in the pit area. Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds.
Any rider or ATV/Truck that causes and damage to KOI Drag Racing Equipment will be held liable for damages. If you hit any equipment you are disqualified for that round, this includes center line/cones.
All riders/driver must sign a release form before participating in any event.
Any rider under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian signature on release form
ATV & BIKES riders must wear a full faced DOT approved helmet with chin strap strapped NO sandals or slippers
ALL truck drivers (except street trucks) Must wear DOT approved helmet. Can be full faced or open faced.
NO STUDDED TIRES. NO EXCEPTION.
Nitrous, turbo charger, superchargers can be used in OPEN classes only. NOS main line must be disconnected in all other classes.
Double or single eliminations determined by # of entries, (over 75 single elimination)
Track will have boundaries. Out of bounds will be a disqualification this includes cones on center line.
When you’re called you have 1 minute to stage
Starting judge’s decision is final
For Truck classes- driver must have a valid driver’s license to compete
Trucks can be hauled or driven in unless specified
KOI Officials reserve the right to make a SAFETY call at any time.
NO PIT RIDING! If caught, you will be disqualified without warning and asked to leave event without refund. We do this for safety.
Vehicles can be teched at anytime with pump or scope. Refusal of tech or caught cheating will result in being dqed from the current event and will not be allowed to participate in the next 3 events. Also $200 protest fee, if protested, driver of protested truck and tech person will check truck. If protest passes the protested driver keeps the money.
All dirt bikes/ motorcycles should have card board or disk to catch start beam to prevent red lights.
No 2 stroke and 4 stroke run together unless specified.
If a participant knowingly enters a class they do NOT belong in they will be removed without refund.
Please note kids receive one trophy per night.
On the event of a double red light the worst red light looses.
Any quad or bike that runs a 4.0 or faster at 200′ MUST have a kill switch
Only one rider per one bike/truck/quad per one class
Registration closes when eliminations start.
Will have 2 et classes (one trucks, one quad) at certain races (time permitting) both classes will have a $20 entry and rider/driver is responsible for getting times.
Only one person in staging lanes with rider
Each driver must be legal age per state or must hold a valid seniors drivers license and have a notarized release signed by his or her parent or guardian.
The track or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
Only owners, drivers, mechanics, etc…, who sign the release sheet will be permitted in the pit area or on the track. Driver only receives free pit pass on the day of the show.
Contestants of the Porter County Fair demolition derby are not employees of the track, fair association, or the Porter County demolition derby.
Porter County Demolition Derby, Fair Association, or K&F Promotions will not be held responsible for any car, parts or personal property before, during and after the show or over night.
The driver is responsible for his pit crew
No cars will be allowed on the grounds with any type of glass. NO EXCEPTIONS.
ALL CARS must be prepared according to the rules and regulations and ready for inspection upon entering the grounds.
Each driver and mechanic must sign in at register desk the day of the show and have their car inspected at least one hour prior to show time.
Safety belts, Z-90 approved helmet, goggles, or face shields are required. Fire Suit or Mill Greens are Mandatory!
No deliberate head-on collisions and No deliberate hitting on the drivers door.
All cars are to be removed from the grounds following the show or they will become the property of the Porter County Fair Grounds.
Any hardtop automobile or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, convertibles, jeeps, hearses, limousines, or 4-wheel drive cars are allowed.
Full Size: WIRE Class
Rules & Regulations
Any make or model, You may run an imperial for this class. You must have a seat belt and fire proof clothing.
BODY:
Remove all glass, mirrors, interior plastic, exterior moldings, and anything flammable. Remove all decking in wagons. (Vehicles must be swept clean of debris)
You may cut the firewall out for distributor clearance.
79 and newer cars will be permitted to crease rear quarters only.
If you are creasing, quarters must remain vertical.
All cars must have a hood bolted or 9 wired in the stock position and must have a hole cut in the center of the hood.
You may run a door skin on the driver's door only. Door skin can ONLY be welded on the driver’s door.
You must have 9 wire doors in 6 spots.
A window bar or chain in the center is mandatory.
You may run the front and rear window bars. (Max 3" wide)
The rear window bar can attach 6" on the roof and 6" on the trunk lid mounted to sheet metal only.
Trunk deck lids must be factory and must remain in their original stock position.
Trunk lids will be permitted to a max of 12 locations to 9 wire shut.
All trunks must have a hole cut in them for inspection.
Batteries must be strapped/bolted down to the passenger side in the car.
FRAME:
No welding or bolting any extras to the frame.
Any rust repairs need to be called about before repairing.
No frame shaping permitted; 1979 and newer full-size cars will be permitted 1 tilt point per rail and can be re-welded in that area only.
You may shorten the front frame rails to 1" in front of the core support mount.
Imperials and Cadillacs will not be permitted to shorten frames.
You may dimple or notch the rear frame in 2 places to help the back roll.
BODY MOUNTS:
You may change all body bolts to a 1/2" bolt using 2 washers and 1 nut.
Body mounts must stay in factory position.
You may replace the spacers with a 1" sized hockey puck.
STEERING:
You may run an aftermarket steering column.
SUSPENSION
All suspensions must remain stock with no modifications.
Cars may not have solid suspension and must bounce.
You may have 4 screws in spacers per side, to achieve ride height.
You must run the factory rack and pinion.
REAR END:
You may run any rear end however, No 8 Lug rear ends are allowed.
Leaf spring cars must remain factory springs/clamps.
Rear mounting for leaf-sprung cars can be a max length of 10" and must be mounted in the factory location.
Rear coils may be wired or chained around the package tray.
Absolutely no reinforcing of control arms or brackets.
Watts link conversions are permitted.
DRIVETRAIN:
You may choose any motor/trans combo.
Lower engine cradles and pully protectors are permitted but they can not be more than 1/2" thick.
The lower cradle can not go past the stock motor mount location.
You must use a factory-style rubber motor mount.
Cross members must remain in factory position.
You may use a max of 2" X 2" X 1/4" tubing in replacement of crossmember.
Aftermarket shifters are permitted.
Aftermarket break/pedal setups are permitted.
Aftermarket trans coolers are permitted but may not reinforce the car in any way.
You may NOT run a distributor protector.
Drive shafts must remain stock.
CAGE:
Simple 4-point cage consisting of 1 dash bar, 1 rear seat bar, and 2 sidebars.
All caging may be a max of 3" X 3" X ¼ " OR 4" X 2" X ¼ " tubing.
No stacking of caging will be permitted.
Caging must be 4" above the body bolt elevation.
The rear seat bar can be no further back than the rear kick panel.
You are permitted 2 down legs to the frame; these must run vertically from your sidebars or rear seat bar only.
Sidebars can be a max length of 60" long.
Halo can not be any further back than your rear seat bar and must run vertically over the roof of the car. Halo can attach to your sidebars only.
Gas tank protectors are permitted to be a max of 24" wide and centered in the car.
Gas tank protectors are not allowed to be within 3" of the package tray.
Cage/GTP and Halo can have 1 gusset 12" Max to the longest point per corner.
FRONT BUMPER:
Bumpers can not have any spikes.
Any factory OEM bumper or 10 gauge aftermarket bumper will be permitted.
You may hard-nose your bumper if you remove factory shocks/cups altogether.
If you are hardnosing your bumper, you may only use 2- 1/4" X 3" X 6" plates that must touch the bumper.
Max bumper height must be 14" - 24" measured to the bottom of the frame and at the back and front body mount location.
REAR BUMPER:
Any factory OEM bumper or 10 gauge aftermarket bumper will be permitted.
Min height of 14" from ground to bottom of the bumper.
Rear bumper must be OEM to a min of 6" tall.
You may hard-nose bumper to the frame; 4" wide X ¼ in. thick X 8 in. long flat plate can be welded to either side of the frame. The 8" strap must connect to the rear bumper. You can also add 2 additional 2" wide X ¼ " thick X 4" long straps. Straps must touch the bumper. Sheet metal can be moved to the hardnose bumper but may not be rewelded beyond to what the rules just stated.
If you do not want to hard-nose your rear bumper; Run the factory shock/bracket that came on the make and model of car you are running. Bracket/shock must be in the factory location and it can be tilted. Nothing may be welded beyond 6" on the frame measured from the back of the frame toward the hump. Two additional straps can be added per mounting location. Measurement for the strap is 2" wide ¼" thick X 4" long.
TIRES/BRAKES:
All cars must be able to demonstrate the ability to stop at any time. If your brakes do not work, you will not compete.
No beadlocks
No foam filled.
No solids/paddle tires.
Aftermarket break setups are permitted.
Pinion breaks are permitted.
PRE RAN CARS:
3 fix plates per side, 4" X 6" (2 in front of the firewall, 1 in the rear.)
FRESH CARS:
You may have 2 plates per frame rail, 4" X 6" (in front of the firewall.)
Imperials and Cadillacs will NOT be permitted to have the 2 plates.
Full Size: STOCK Class
Rules & Regulations
Any make or model, NO imperials permitted for this class. You must have a seat belt and fire proof clothing.
BODY:
Remove all glass, mirrors, interior plastic, and anything flammable. Remove all decking in wagons.
Vehicles must be swept clean of all debris.
No sedagons, you may only crease the front & rear quarters, but not wedge them. Quarter panels must remain upright. Zero sheet metal or frame shaping, forming, or folding
All cars competing must have a hole cut in it
Fasten trunk, hood, or tailgates in 6 places, 2 strands of #9 wire sheet metal to sheet metal or weld it or 6 locations using 1⁄2” bolts with store-bought washers through the drip rail in the trunk. You may also use angle iron no longer than 2” long and a single 1⁄2” bolt to hold the hood shut.
Door seams may have no more than 12” of weld, vertical seam only. The Driver's door may be welded solid for safety. Straps can be no wider than 3” and no more than 1⁄4” thick.
You may run a 1⁄4” max door skin but it may not be welded to the rockers or belly rail.#9 wire or chain required in front windshield OR you may use 3” x 1/4” flat stock. 3” can be used on the dash sheet metal 3” onto the roof.
FRAMES:
You may dimple your rear frame rails only to achieve the frame to roll.
NO welding, bolting, wiring, or adding any material or substance to strengthen frames. At the Inspector’s discretion frames will be drilled, wire wheeled, or wiped down.
Absolutely no painting or spraying any material on frames or welds.
Tilting is permitted.
80-02 cars you will be allowed 1 3”x6” by 1⁄4” thick plate per rail placed anywhere at your discretion crossmember forward.
Pre-run cars will be allowed 3 additional 3”x6” by 1⁄4” thick plates per rail.
80s and newer GMs are allowed 6”x 6”x by 1/4” thick hump plates.
BODY MOUNTS:
You may have up to a 6” core support spacer; it may not be welded if metal.
If you choose to change your core support mounts with 2 of your threaded rods, you get 3 plates ¼”x 5”x 5” max, 7- ¾” nuts,7 -3"OD max ⅛” thick washers per threaded rod CORE SUPPORT ONLY. If core support bolts are changed, this will count for 2 of your 6 mounts.
Body mounts and spacers remain stock and in place. DO NOT EVEN TOUCH THEM!
Exception: You may change a total of 6 body bolts out, with 5/8"x 30" long threaded rod max with 3 nuts, 3- ¾” store-bought washers, and 3-5”x5” 1/4" thick plates per rod. Must be a straight vertical rod only, with no bends or angle pieces. Must have 1” rubber or metal spacer no larger than stock body pucks and all bottom nuts must be inside the frame. If they are broken or rusted out, a double piece #9 wire or 3/8” bolt may be substituted. ZERO welding is allowed to mount this rod. Rusted-out body bolts may be removed and replaced with a single strand of #9 wire.
No attaching body bolts to any part of the cage or rollover bar.
SUSPENSION & STEERING:
You may weld 2 straps per upper A-Arm 2”x2” to maintain ride height.
You may use store-bought spring spacers, no homemade spacers or spacers on top of the springs.
You may use a double strand #9 wire to hold the coil spring to the rear end. Leaf spring cars may use 4 single strands #9 wire as leaf clamps per spring stack.
All suspension and steering must remain stock
Aftermarket steering columns and shafts are allowed. 2003 and newer must run the factory rack and pinion. These components may not strengthen the car in any way at any time.
Tie-rods may be reinforced
Upper A-arms may be interchanged as long as they are able to be bolted on. You may cut/ trim to make it fit but no welding on brackets etc. A-arm must bolt on factory brackets of the frame, no drilling new holes or enlarging existing holes. Example: 80-91 box Ford A-arms being installed on a 98-02. Cut the mounting bar out and trim the edges of A-arms to get height.
You may run aftermarket trailing arms. I.E. Toast trailing arms. Solid trailing arms are allowed. Max size is 2 x 3 tube that is no longer than factory control arms.
98 up watts-links conversion will be allowed only in the following way!! Upper trailing arm brackets must be bolted in. They must be 2 separate brackets, and may not be larger than 6”x 12”x 3/8” thick max. 4- ⅝” bolts, nuts, and 8 washers per bracket. Brackets may only be bolted to the tow package and bolts may not stick thru the body.
Brackets may not strengthen the frame or body. NO WELDING AT ALL OF THE UPPER BRACKETS.
98 up watts-links LOWER BRACKET Conversion. Only 1 way will be allowed to mount the lower trailing arm bracket. 1 piece of square tube 3”x 3”x 3/8”x 3” long max per side of frame may be used. Cut the square tube to make a C channel. It must be welded to the inboard of the frame at the point you want your trailing arm mounted. Drill your hole thru the tube and only 1 thickness of the frame. Bolt your arm into place. No other bolts will be allowed to mount this bracket. No factory mounting brackets will be allowed to mount the trailing arms.
DRIVETRAIN:
Any drivetrain and transmission.
No tranny braces allowed.
You may run a basic front plate and lower engine cradle defined as being nothing above the heads with pulley protector no distributor protector, but it must be mounted to the car with OEM style mounts and aftermarket mounts with rubber bushings allowed. No midplates allowed
2003 and newer Crown Vics may run a bolt in cradle, as long as it does not alter the factory steering or cradle.
You may run 9# wire from engine to engine cradle two strands max.
Any drive shaft allowed.
May use a distributor clamp.
REAR:
Rear ends may be changed as long as they are bolted in stock position. Any rear end is allowed.
Rear end brace will be allowed. Rear end brace must be more than 5” from any part of the frame.
Pinion breaks are allowed.
You may run a 3/8 chain around the rear end back to the frame with only one link per side welded back to the frame for ride height control. Any extra chain links or weld on the frame will cause you to run a working suspension.
DRIVERS COMPARTMENT:
4-point square cage only, 1 down leg in the center of each front door welded to sheet metal only nothing to the frame. Max 60” cage overall measurements, must be mounted horizontally and 6” off of the floor. Gussets may be placed only in the interior of a 4-point cage. Any part of the cage must be at least 3” off of the trans tunnel. 10”x2” max door bar size, 4” square tubing, or equivalent max for all other parts of the cage.
Gas tank mount may be welded to the back bar. The back bar and fuel cell/tank must be a minimum of 4” from the rear sheet metal and 4” off the doors, no taller than 10” above the tank.
The Halo bar is not allowed to attach to the roof. The halo bar may only be attached to the back seat bar or sidebars, not to the floor.
Transmission coolers are permitted. They must be mounted inside a 4-point cage area. Or the cage must be tight to the cage if mounted on the back bar.
Nothing may be mounted in a way that strengthens the car.
BUMPERS:
You may run any bumper OEM bumpers. They may be loaded. You may run replica bumpers. bumper brackets in the factory location may be welded continuously to frame 4” from the back of the bumper only. In addition, you may plug weld the shock tube inside the frame. For Example: welding the factory bolt hole to the shock tube. Plug welds shall be NO further than 6” from the backside of the bumper.
If you are not running a bumper shock, you are allowed a 4”x 6” x 1⁄4” plate off the back side of the bumper. One plate per frame rail. Absolutely NO front bumper shocks on.
You may hardnose front and rear bumpers if desired, but no shortening rear frame.
You may only run the bumper shocks that came factory on the car.
You may shorten 80 and newer fords up to the front of the core support mount. Do not remove or move the core support mount.
Bumper height must be 14" to 24" measured to the bottom of the frame at the back and front body mount location.
Bumpers must appear stock from the stands with no spikes or protruding items.
TIRES & BRAKES:
All cars must be able to demonstrate the ability to stop at any time. If your brakes do not work, you will not compete.
Any tire combination you may use aftermarket centers with various bolt patterns, solid centers are fine.
Valve stem protectors allowed. Valve stem protectors may not extend more than 6” from the valve stem.
Limited Weld: Any make or model. You must have a seat belt and fire proof clothing.
BODY:
Remove all glass, mirrors, interior plastic, exterior modlings and anything flammable. Remove all decking in wagons. (Vehicles must be swept clean of debris)
You may cut fire wall out for distributor clearance.
Batteries must be placed in car and secured on passenger side.
Hoods must be in stock location with a hole cut in the center. Hoods may be secured in 6 spots total. 1" all threads may be bolted at the core support. The core support mount may go through the frame and hood. Remaining 4 spots are to be no larger than 1" all thread. If you are using angle iron, they may not be longer than 6" and no more than 2 bolts per angle.
Trunk lid can be removed, tucked, cut in half or V. No wedging of the rear of the car. Trunk lid may be welded solid, but must have a hole cut in the center.
Body line enhancements are permitted.
Drivers door may have a skin or be welded solid. All other doors can be welded with 5" on 5" off vertical seam only with 3" wide strap. If you are using 9 wire, there is no limit to how much you put on doors. You may wire doors to bottom of frame if using 9 wire.
Body mount bolts may be replaced; you must have 1" bushings/spacers.
Rusty panels may be patched using no more than a 1" overlap with the same thickness of metal.
No internal bracing of the body.
No interior seam welding of body parts.
Cars must have a safety strap mounted in window from roof to the cowl.
FRAMES:
You may tilt/pitch frames.
No material may be added to the frame.
Seams may be welded A-arms forward.
No shortening, altering or shaping the frame, past the center of core support mounting hole.
All factory frame holes must remain open.
You may run a 14" bumper bracket that can only be on one side of the frame and as tall or wide as that side of the frame rail.
Rust may be repaired using the same size material as the area with 1" overlaps. Must be able to see the damage.
Plates are permitted on fresh and pre ran cars.
You may add 3" X 22" long by 1/4" thick plate to the center of the rear humps that is contoured to the frame.
Hump plates must be centered on the hump.
You may run kickers 2" X 2" Max. no more than a 4" X 4" mounting plate.
SUSPENSION & STEERING:
Aftermarket steering columns are permitted.
A-arms may be held down by welding 2" X 6" X 1/4" flat stock to front and rear of A-arm or a single 1" bolt thorugh the A-arm per side.
Tie rods and balljoints may be aftermarket but must be stock appearing.
DRIVETRAIN:
Any engine/trans combo is permitted.
Any rear end is permitted- watts links are permitted.
Any drive shaft is permitted.
Any engine cradle is permitted.
Mounts must attach to the stock mount location.
Distrib. protectors are permitted.
Radiator protectors are permitted.
Trans coolers are permitted.
